During his stay in Beijing, President Vučić met with the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, and had several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Forum, during which as many as 18 agreements were signed, a large number of which have a strategic character.
Assessing the conversation with the Chinese President as extremely friendly, President Vučić told reporters in Beijing that the one of the topic discussed was Kosovo and Metohija, respect for international legal norms, what Serbia is going through in that regard, as well as the double standards, non-compliance with the UN Charter and Resolution 1244, by certain countries.
"We have come to an understanding of our Chinese friends. We also discussed other things that are needed for us, from cooperation in all areas of economy, economy, military-technical cooperation", said President Vučić, adding that there was also talk about infrastructure connectivity and the increasing number of Chinese investments.
At the first session of the Third Belt and Road Forum, on the topic of "Connectivity in an Open Global Economy", President Vučić said that the topic of the panel reflects the strategic orientation of the concept of development of China as envisioned by President Xi.
"This initiative seeks to encourage closer cooperation between countries and peoples through joint efforts aimed at solving global challenges and the progress of all humanity, with diligent work on creating a global economy through mutual cooperation in order to achieve benefits for all", said President Vučić addressing the attendees.
During his stay in Beijing, President Vučić also had bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Laos. He also held long talks with Ethiopian President and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. He also met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo. In addition to these meetings, President Vučić spoke with the Deputy Prime Minister of China and the President of Turkmenistan.
During his visit to Beijing, President Vučić also visited the Chinese Institute for International Studies. During the visit he met with the former Ambassador of China to Serbia and the Director of the Institute Chen Bo.
