Visit of professors and students of Serbian language and Balkan studies from Beijing University of Foreign Studies (BFSU)

The Embassy was visited on May 14 by students of Serbian language and Balkan studies from Beijing University of Foreign Studies (BFSU), led by professors from the Department of Serbian Language Yao Jie, Peng Yuchao, Hong Yuqing and Nataša Radosavljević-Gaberov.

Speaking to guests, Ambassador Stefanovic pointed out the high importance of the work of the Department for the Serbian Language, as the oldest Serbian language school in China, Founded in 1963.

Ambassador Stefanovic commended the work of the professors from the Department, especially prof. Yao Jie and Peng Yuchao, who were awarded the Gold Medals for Merit In February of this year, by the Decree of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.

Ambassador also stressed the importance of educational cooperation and exchange between the two countries and welcomed the interest of Chinese students in studying the Serbian language and culture. In addition to that , she invited students to visit and continue their education in the Republic of Serbia.

Professors Yao and Peng emphasized that they were given an exceptional honor to be awarded the Gold Medals for Merit, by the decree of President Vučić, and that Beijing University of Foreign Studies is proud of their award, which is also a great show of respect for the School and University.

During the visit, the students showed excellent knowledge of the Serbian language and expressed interest in a deeper understanding of Serbian culture. Students also expressed their wish to visit and study in Serbia. Moreover, students informed the Ambassador and diplomats of the Embassy about the opportunities for career development offered by the knowledge of the Serbian language in China, which relates primarily to work in the state administration, news agencies and numerous Chinese companies that cooperate with Serbia.
