Ambassador Maja Stefanović visited Shaanxi Province

Ambassador Maja Stefanović visited Shaanxi Province, as a head of the group of ambassadors and diplomats from more than 25 countries and international organizations on a study visit organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Province.

During the visit, she met with the Party Secretary of the province, Zhao Yide, with whom she exchanged views on further improving cooperation between Serbia and Shaanxi province. During the conversation, Ambassador Stefanović also extended an invitation to her interlocutor to visit Serbia, which Party Secretary Zhao gladly accepted. Party Secretary Zhao shared views on the overall cooperation between China and Serbia, which is significantly enhanced by the particularly friendly relations between President Aleksandar Vučić and President Xi Jinping. Both sides noted the importance of establishing a railway cargo line between Xi'an and Belgrade, on which the first freight train began operating in 2024. The possibilities of intensifying transport on this cargo line and increasing exports from Serbia to Shaanxi were also discussed, especially considering the importance of the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and China.

As part of her visit to Shaanxi, Stefanović also participated in the Second China-Europe Railway Forum in Xi'an, which was opened by Politburo Standing Committee Member and Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang and Provincial Party Secretary Zhao Yide.
