Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CCP and Minister of the Department of Public Relations of the Central Committee of the CCP, Li Shulei, presented the winners of the China Special Book Award at a ceremony held on June 18 in Beijing. Among the awardees is the director of the publishing house "Laguna" Dejan Papić, on whose behalf the award was received by the Minister Counselor of the Embassy Jelena Nikolić.
The China Special Book Award is the highest decoration awarded to foreigners in the publishing sector for their outstanding efforts to introduce China to the world. Since its establishment in 2005, a total of 203 translators, publishers and writers from 63 countries have been awarded this prestigeous award.
The award ceremony was attended by a large number of Chinese officials and writers, including the Nobel laureate Mo Yen, representatives of various countries, as well as a large number of ambassadors, including Ambassador Maja Stefanović. At the ceremony, it was emphasized that the winners continuously paid attention to the development of China and in-depth research into Chinese culture and translated, published and created a number of books that tell the world stories about China and the Chinese people. In doing so, they helped make China better known globally and promoted cultural exchange and mutual learning.
The award is also the culmination of the annual Beijing International Book Fair, which opened on the same day.
